Nothing much to report except that I'm laid up with a cold/flu thing for the second time in three weeks. I could put this down to any number of complex causes - stress, fatigue, mind/body interactions - but I think the simple explanation is that the nursing home is a kind of petri dish, especially in winter. All I know is that I was there for 40 minutes on Friday - all of it on the dementia unit, which is locked and effectively sealed - and I had a full set of symptoms by Sunday morning. Could be there was some other reason but I doubt it.
There being no choice, I've gone to ground and will count on phone updates from the staff if anything breaks loose. Though if it turned out that my father's other-than-Alzheimer's health was better than mine, that wouldn't surprise me either.
More soon.

Alan, I wonder if you have had a chance to view Phillip Toledano's book-Days with My Father?
You being a photographer, I thought about you and wondered if you had taken any photos of your dad during this time? The last picture of Phillip himself breaks my heart, you can really see the toll it has taken on him and that he really loved and made the most of his time with his father. Give it a look if you haven't already and I'd be curious to hear your opinion.
Sorry to hear you are sick.
